Word List

So... as it turns out I am pretty nerdy. For Christmas, I asked for a dictionary. (Thanks Mom & Dad! What wonderful parents I have; for while they may have judged my choice of presents just a wee bit, they did as I asked!) My oldest sister gave me a book called Word Nerd, and I can't get enough of it. The rest of the family wasn't quite as impressed as I read random tidbits to them all Christmas day. Anyway.... I have decided to write down every word I don't know, and at a later time look up the definition.  Depressingly, the list is quite long. I mean really, really long.  I clearly skimmed over A LOT of words. And now, lucky readers,  I have decided to share my knowledge with you (I feel a bit like Ross Gellar right now.....Ah well!). Today's word?

Doyenne
-noun, plural doyennes
a woman who is the most respected or prominent person in a particular field.

Example: Anna Wintour is the doyenne of fashion.
Another Example: I want to be the doyenne of something, someday.
